Julie: Couldn't really describe the taste, except to say that it wasn't like an almond which is what I expected. Not really nutty, I suppose...

Sally: Thanks, Sally! I'm glad someone was able to shed some light on this for me.

So it's kinda like apricot kernels but from a plum instead? I'm used to having dried sour plums but have never seen the kernel. There wasn't any of the flesh around this one otherwise I may have been in a better position to identify it. It was just the kernel.

Hello!

I am not a blogger, but visit your site and love it.

My Chinese graduate student explained to me what those are

they are fruits, sort of like plums - they are treated with some kind of simple sugar solution and dried in the sun. They eat the whole thing - what you see is the kernel inside, and some "dried" flesh, like a prune - around it

they have different kinds and flavors, apparently, depending on the treatment they use to process the fruit

hope this helps

I'm stumped and I've experienced all types of food even the strange and exotic.
Were these nuts good? Did you like the taste?
