Going Japanesy!
My brother came back from London for three weeks over Christmas & New Year (Yay!) and, subsequently, we ate out a little more than we normally would. All three of us LOVE Japanese food so the choices were easy to make.
One evening, after drinks with friends at ‘The Apartment’, we headed to Ito, Bourke St, where A. had a spicy ramen that was choc-full of flavour. In fact, so good that he went back a second time a week later.
We also took my bro & bro-in-law (who learnt how to use chopsticks that night!) to dinner at Hanabishi, Queen St. Expensive but excellent quality. The sashimi was incredibly fresh, and we had fun cooking the prawns & calamari on the hot stone – 20 seconds each side. Mmmmmm, I’m drooling just remembering this meal:

This SO puts me in the mood for some Japanese Noodles. I purchased a Japanese cooking book at the annual Osaka Garden Festival a few years ago. This festival in the Japanese landscaped garden is one of the most unique ways to experience Japanese culture in Chicago and even has an outdoor tea room. There were all sorts of booths set up to try Japanese food items and there were so many things that I had there that I never would have found in a restaurant.

There’s a really good Ramen place on Bridge Road called Momotaros which I highly recommend. Its right next door to the Curry Club.. I’ve got a bit of a craving for it now!

Ed: It was stunning food and there’s nothing to stop you from going
The second Ito night, we were at Section 8 before dinner as well but no live band as promised
Rachel: That sounds like a great festival. I’m a real fan of ALL festivals though! They are always such fun and lots of new things to check out.
Janelle: Hehe, we were allowed to be bad with a good excuse, although I don’t consider eating Japanese bad – just some of the prices at Hanabishi! Good food though.
Peter: I have yet to visit Momotaro but will try to head there soon. I’ve also seen mixed reviews on it…

Plum: It was fun to crack but A was really disappointed that it wasn’t really salty in flavour seeing as it was baked in salt!
