What Amazing Teeth You Have, Grandma…

bill_crop

If you’ve ever seen Bill Granger on TV or in a photo, the first thing you would notice is his boyish smile – the whitest, most perfect teeth set off by tanned, tanned skin. I hear that he is promoting a new Macleans toothpaste and you can definitely see why they would love him.

I’ve never owned any of Bill’s cookbooks but I have enjoyed ricotta hot cakes and scrambled eggs at bills in Surrey Hills and his Banana Bread is one of my favourite things to bake. However, I hear that Every Day is pretty good.

This morning, on my way into work, I saw posters outside Angus & Robertson announcing that he was doing signings. There was a desk set up and books all ready to be signed on the table…and not a single soul around. Then Bill came up the stairs and walked behind the desk. And still, no one around, no one rushing up to get thier book signed. Well, I didn’t want him to feel like nobody loved him so what else could I do but head on up?

Well, actually, the truth is that A. was with me and said ‘Why don’t you get the book?’ So I did, autograph and all. And Bill comes across in person exactly the way he looks in photos – completely lovely and sweet.

A. tried to take a photo of us together with his phone but as you can see it was WAY too bright…or maybe that’s just Bill’s radiant smile.

Being an American, I’ve never heard of Bill Granger but you got my curiousity piqued so I went to his website after reading your post. Wow, what a nice smile!

How exciting to get a book autographed by him! I am now on a hunt to find this at my library or at least try some of his scrumptious sounding recipes from his website.

Thanks for finding me another chef to become interested in!

Yeah his pearly whites certainly are dazzling. I’m not surprised A’s phone freaked out. lol :)

Karla: It’s nice to see celebrities in person because I think you get a better gauge of their personalities. Bill’s food is pretty simple and strightforward, no fancy food, but this is probably what makes him popular.

Helen: Yep, couldn’t take my eyes off them which made it difficult to talk to him! Isn’t that funny? The light was behind us and must have been reflecting majorly off his smile! I missed out on meeting Gordon Ramsey so glad I got my share of celebrity chef spotting in :)

Ha ha ha, now this made me chuckle. My partner always comments on bill’s teeth (ever notice he prefers bill with a lower case ‘b’) and does THE BEST (loving) impersonation of that grin. I went to an evening organised by my local bookstore in Brisbane where bill was the guest star. That was when he published ’simply bill’ – it was really nice to be up close and personal and hear of his childhood foodie memories.

I recommend his books to anyone, his recipes are classics and so easy to create.

I feel so cheated at the tiny sliver of Cin that’s in that photo. Bill and his teeth can go back to dentist paradise for all I care :)

kikimiss: seen the new McLeans ad yet? :D

matt: it’s not like you don’t know what I look like anyway and bill is obviously outshining me here. where’s the chivalry in that? (harumphhh!)
